Which iPhone 5 Feature Do You Want the Most?, Apple will finally end our long national nightmare next week and officially unveil the iPhone 5. When Apple CEO Tim cook gets up on stage at Apple’s Cupertino, Calif., campus, all speculation will end. Until then, though, we can all imagine that each and every one of us has an impact on the iPhone 5′s final incarnation. What will it look like? It may be radically different from the iPhone 4 (and 3GS) millions of you currently have in your pockets.


Mashable has done a fair share of speculation on what the final iPhone 5′s new look and capabilities. However, Apple makes these products for you, the consumer. So what we think and want isn’t half as important as what you hope to see in Apple’s next hand-held wonder.

Do you want a thinner product that slides neatly into your sometimes too-tight front pocket? Perhaps you’re thinking that the next iPhone would be infinitely better if it had two cameras on the back to capture 3D images. Others may want twice as much storage and the option of more memory. We’ve heard whispers about larger screens. And some think it makes sense to simply squeeze more pixels into the current screen size. Obviously 4G is high on the list and some want the iPhone to double as a credit card (NFC).

It’s unlikely we’ll get everything we want in a new iPhone, so let’s try and settle on the things we want the most. Vote for your must-have new feature in the poll below.

After all, Adam Lambert’s crotch was covered for an even mil. Celine Dion reportedly insured her voice. Heck, David Lee Roth wisely so so wisely insured himself against his own sperm (should one ever complete its journey).


People Magazine reports that Madison took out her new boob insurance policy to protect herself and the people that perform with her in the Las Vegas production, “Peep Show.” Madison told People Magazine:

”I’ve heard about people getting body parts insured and I thought, why not? If anything happened to my boobs, I’d be out for a few months and I’d probably be out a million dollars. I thought I’d cover my assets.”

Madison’s breasts have made her a lot of money. It seems only right that she is returning the favor.

Madison said:

“I think it’s kind of funny. I think they’re getting the credit they deserve. They’re my primary money makers right now.”

You can appreciate why these stars seek such insurance. Without their unique feature or talent, they are no longer that special person. It’s why Jimmy Durante insured his nose and Dolly Parton insures her breasts. It’s just smart business, even though these folks had talent beyond their extraordinary anatomical attribute. Madison, on the other hand — well, let’s just say she’s wise to protect her surgeon-given assets. As she puts it, “They’re my primary money makers right now.” Indeed. It would be a shame if something happened to them, and she had to fall back on her medical degree.

In the Age of the Reality Star, Madison is probably ahead of the curve. Fame can be especially fleeting when it’s not founded on legitimate talent. If The Situation hasn’t already insured his abs, he better. What other reality stars might want to look into insuring their assets? Kim Kardashian? Steve-O?

Thursday is National Coffee Day in the United States, and in celebration, certain stores are handing out free cups of one of the world’s most widely consumed beverages. The convenience store chain 7-Eleven was offering free medium coffees, cappuccinos, and lattes from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m, or as long as coffee supplies lasted.

Didn’t make it to 7-Eleven in time for a free cup of joe? You can still get a complimentary cup at Krispy Kreme, the doughnut chain, which is giving away 12-ounce cups of its new Signature House Blend. Also in a giving mood is Thornton’s, a convenience-store chain, where you can get a free coffee, cappuccino, or hot chocolate until 2 p.m.

If you want to celebrate National Coffee Day in the comfort of your own home, Kikkoman, the soy sauce company, is offering a free container of Kikkoman Pearl Organic Soymilk Coffee to its fans on Facebook. All you have to do is send an e-mail containing your name and home address to kmag@kikkoman.com , and a package of soy coffee will be delivered right to your front door.

If none of those options sound quite like your cup of tea (or coffee), there are deals to be had elsewhere. The Caribou Coffee chain is offering a "buy one, get one free" deal on beverages with this online coupon. Barnes and Noble members can also get the same deal on the Starbucks coffee sold in its stores, with this coupon, valid until Oct. 5.

Publix supermarkets are also in on the celebration, offering a "buy one, get one free" deal on 12-ounce bags of Eight O’ Clock coffee all this week.

And if you miss out on the National Coffee Day celebrations altogether this year, take comfort: You still can hop a flight to Tokyo in time for Japanese National Coffee Day, which takes place on Oct.

Amid new tabloid reports of infidelity by Ashton Kutcher, and trouble in his marriage to Demi Moore, the two – who are currently on different coasts – have curbed their prolific Tweeting in some possibly telling ways. 

On Sept. 23, Moore shared a quote from Greek philosopher Epictetus, writing, "When we are offended at any man's fault, turn to yourself & study your own failings. Then you will forget your anger." 

The pair also spent their sixth wedding anniversary – Sept. 24 – apart. 

Kutcher arrived in San Diego on Sept. 23 for a weekend of partying with his former That '70s Show costar Danny Masterson. Among their stops: Fluxx nightclub, where they had a VIP table. The actor also refrained from Tweeting anything on his wedding anniversary. 

Moore, 48, has been in New York City to promote the short film she directed as part of Lifetime's TV anthology, Five. The actress attended the premiere along with Jennifer Aniston, who also directed a short, on Monday night. 

Kutcher, 33, who recently returned to TV in Two and a Half Men was in Los Angeles, where he presented an award to Ryan Seacrest Tuesday night during L.A.'s Promise Gala 2011. 

The actors' reps have not commented yet. 

The couple, who began dating in 2003 and married in 2005, dealt with rumors of infidelity and marital trouble a year ago. At the time, they took a trip to Israel for what the actor described as a spiritual journey.

Apple Announces iPhone Event for Oct 4, Apple has officially confirmed iPhone Event,  Apple has sent out media invitations for an event called "Let's Talk iPhone", which begins October 4 at 10:00. It is reported by SlashGear. Apple has started sending invites for an iPhone event at Apple’s Cupertino campus on Oct. 4.


Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 5. The tech giant is also likely to unveil a second, cheaper iPhone model based off the current iPhone 4. The event will be the first with Tim Cook as CEO.


The new iPhone has been rumored to have an 8 MP camera, 1 GB of RAM, an aluminum back, a larger screen and a slew of other upgrades. Apple is also expected to unveil a new Assistant feature for iOS 5 and will bring some special guests on stage.

This will be Apple’s first iPhone event since June 2010, when it released the iPhone 4. iPhone 5 demand is expected to be strong, thanks to the lack of a phone release this summer and the addition of the iPhone on the Verizon network. Sprint is also expected to get the iPhone.

Two thousand years after they were written and decades after they were found in desert caves, some of the world-famous Dead Sea Scrolls went online for the first time Monday in a project launched by Israel's national museum and the Web giant Google.

The appearance of five of the most important Dead Sea Scrolls on the Internet is part of a broader attempt by the custodians of the celebrated manuscripts who were once criticized for allowing them to be monopolized by small circles of scholars -- to make them available to anyone with a computer.

The scrolls include the biblical Book of Isaiah, the manuscript known as the Temple Scroll, and three others. Surfers can search high-resolution images of the scrolls for specific passages, zoom in and out, and translate verses into English.

The originals are kept in a secured vault in a Jerusalem building constructed specifically to house the scrolls. Access requires at least three different keys, a magnetic card and a secret code.

The five scrolls are among those purchased by Israeli researchers between 1947 and 1967 from antiquities dealers, having first been found by Bedouin shepherds in the Judean Desert.

The scrolls, considered by many to be the most significant archaeological find of the 20th Century, are thought to have been written or collected by an ascetic Jewish sect that fled Jerusalem for the desert 2,000 years ago and settled at Qumran, on the banks of the Dead Sea. The hundreds of manuscripts that survived, partially or in full, in caves near the site have shed light on the development of the Hebrew Bible and the origins of Christianity.

The most complete scrolls are held by the Israel Museum, with more pieces and smaller fragments found in other institutions and private collections. Tens of thousands of fragments from 900 Dead Sea manuscripts are held by the Israel Antiquities Authority, which has separately begun its own project to put them online in conjunction with Google.

Photography work on the project began earlier this month in conjunction with a former NASA scientist. An advanced $250,000 camera developed in Santa Barbara, Calif., allows researchers to discern words and other details not visible to the naked eye.

The latest photography effort by two technicians is centered on a fragment of a manuscript known as the Thanksgiving Scroll. On a computer screen was a piece of the Apocryphon of Daniel, an Aramaic text that includes a verse referring to a figure who "will be called the son of God." The first fragments of that will 
be online by the end of the year.

The Antiquities Authority project, aimed chiefly at scholars, is tentatively set to be complete by 2016, at which point nearly all of the scrolls will be available on the Internet.

Christopher Nolan has worked so hard to deliver a Batman who exists in a world as close as possible to our own that it was no real surprise when the guileful British film-maker named Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, rather than Catwoman, in The Dark Knight Rises. But if Nolan was hoping to keep Hathaway's true identity under wraps (Kyle becomes Catwoman in the comics) in advance of the final part of his Batman trilogy's release, a new set of paparazzi shots from the set of the film have rather let the … ahem … cat out of the bag.


There's Hathaway, in full light of day, dressed up in a figure-hugging black leather catsuit with visible cat ears. Unless Kyle and Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne are attending a particularly ironic Halloween ball, Hathaway is pure, 100% Catwoman in the scenes being filmed.

Furthermore, Nolan and his costume designers seem to have opted for a pretty orthodox rendering of the character. Hathaway's costume mercifully dispenses with whiskers and a tail (as you might see in famous comic book iterations such as Frank Miller's Batman: Year One) but the actor really couldn't be anyone else. Given the inventive job Nolan's team did with Heath Ledger's Joker and 

Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow in The Dark Knight and Batman Begins, I'm almost disappointed.Is this a hint that The Dark Knight Rises might eschew the brooding Michael 

Mann-style crime thriller influence that infused the two previous films in the series for a return to Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher-style comic book camp? More likely, the famously wily Nolan is simply leading us up the garden path. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until July 2012 to find out.

'Pan Am' Premiere Review

'Pan Am' Premiere Review, Lighter than air, but not bubble-headed?, ANOTHER WORLD, “Pan Am” and “The Playboy Club.”David Caruso needs his trademark sunglasses to look up at the bright sky and glimpse CSI: MIami‘s new Sunday-night competition: the sleek airliners of Pan Am; it’s a new series that is, to use a word that would have been employed during the era in which the show is set, kicky fun, with the promise of something more.


West Wing director and Pan Am executive producer Thomas Schlamme directed a dreamy vision of what it was like to be a stewardess circa the early 1960s, and his smooth visual storytelling did a lot to cover up clunky dialogue and corny plot twists such as a married passenger boarding a flight containing the gamine stewardess (a pert Karine Vanasse) he’s been having an affair with. Kate (Kelli Garner) is helping out the CIA with a little espionage, even as the Bay of Pigs mess is dragged in to lend some heavy seriousness to a series that really wants to be lighter than air.

The most engaging co-star is Christina Ricci, playing a rebellious stewardess with a working knowledge of Marxism (you can practically see her beatnik black turtleneck beneath her stew uniform; and Ricci’s wide dark eyes suggest evenings spent pounding bongos while reciting protest poetry). In general, Pan Am juggles romance, espionage, and comedy in subplots that will take a while to get sorted out. Right now, the show doesn’t seem to know exactly what it wants to be, and is experimenting with tone, and seeing what works and what doesn’t. That’s the kind of attitude that, if the tinkering is done right, could lead to an interesting series.

Pan Am — along with The Playboy Club, which has already landed with a resounding flop in the ratings — suggest the deep yet almost inexplicable envy that broadcast networks have of Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men. The period drama has a persistent allure for network programmers, despite the fact it hasn’t really worked for them, ratings-wise, in a long time (pace Swingtown, Homefront, American Dreams), and that if Pan Am were to only get Mad Men-sized ratings for ABC, it’d quickly do a death spiral into cancellation.

The show could certainly do without dialogue that tries to articulate what it wants us to believe about it — that back then, the career of stewardess led  to, as one of the horny pilots says without a trace of believability, “a new breed of woman they just had an impulse to take flight.” Puh-leese. What Pan Am is selling is fantasy, or an envious reminder of what life used to be like up, up, and away — yes, kids, there really used to be roomy seats and attentive service. (But then again, you were wearing suits and ties or dresses to fly, not sweat pants and t-shirts with Starbucks stains on them.) I’m intrigued enough to watch again to see how the show shakes down, what proportion of romance vs. spy story it will settle upon. Are you?

iPhone 5 Event on Oct 4 at Apple Campus Cupertino,  iPhone 5 Event will be in Apple Campus Cupertino, Breaking Long-Standing Tradition, Apple’s iPhone 5 event on Oct. 4 will take place at the company’s Cupertino campus, not in San Francisco where all the previous iPhones and iPads have been announced.


As is the custom with the secretive Cupertino company, Apple’s not saying anything about the upcoming unveiling of its latest iProducts, but according to All Things D’s “sources close to the company,” the world’s first look at the newest iPhones will be at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium, rather than the customary Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) or as part of Macworld or WWDC at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.


Beyond that tidbit of information, the reasons for such a change in venue are merely speculative. All Things D speculates that perhaps the new Apple CEO Tim Cook doesn’t care for the cavernous YBCA, instead opting for a more familiar, smaller and intimate venue closer to home. Maybe the Wi-Fi or cellular data bandwidth is more reliable on the Cupertino campus, allowing Apple to better demonstrate its wares and us media types to more effectively broadcast our still photos and live blogs of the event. Perhaps the reality distortion field is more powerful there.

Beyond the location of the event, with the new leadership of CEO Cook, there are bound to be some changes in the Apple way of introducing products. For instance, we can fantasize about a live streaming video feed of the event, not superseding any of the live and sometimes entertaining comments from various bloggers, but enhancing them with a live visual record for all to see.

One thing’s for sure: Apple’s fabled secrecy remains intact, assuring billions of dollars’ worth of free publicity leading up to the event. Let us know in the comments why you think this venue has been changed after so many product introductions elsewhere.

After catching their pal Demi Lovato in concert at the Nokia Theater, the couple then headed next door to L.A.'s Staples Center, where they watched the tear-jerking romance Titanic alone. 


Bieber, according to TMZ, rented out the entire arena so he and Gomez, 19, could watch Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio in the Oscar-winning classic. 

But Bieber, 17, didn't have to pay for it! The Staples Center's management reportedly allowed him the arena, which was available for the night, for free because Bieber has sold out the place three times. 

"Romance isn't dead," Bieber Tweeted Friday. "Treat your lady right fellas."

All these unanswered questions are here to answer. There are two things on the Internet that you can almost always count on: Facebook is going to make changes to its layout without really telling its users in advance, and its users are going to spend the next two days blasting the changes on their Facebook updates – and a side group of people are going to blast the blasters for being "overdramatic."


But instead of just surrendering to the court of nebulous public Facebook opinion on this one, let's look at the numbers. Specifically, the 1,049 users voting as part of a Sodahead poll that asked them to share their opinion about the changes. Are you sitting down?


No need; It should come as little surprise that 86 percent of those voting gave a big fat "dislike" to Facebook's new redesign – that's the design that sticks your "top" news to the top of your Facebook homepage and slaps a real-time "Facebook updates" sidebar, or the "Facebook within a Facebook" joke that's been hitting the site recently, to the side of your screen.

Breaking down the dislikes a little further, 91 percent of teenagers voting in Sodahead's survey said they weren't fans of Facebook's recent design changes. Young adults seemed to fare a little bit better with the changes, but the 79 percent screaming "dislike" was still not that much of an improvement overall.

Sodahead didn't deliver an age range for what it considers "young adults," but an April analysis by Ignite Social Media indicates that roughly 25 percent of Facebook's worldwide users fall between 25 and 34 years of age. Approximately 12 percent of Facebook's users are between 18 and 24.

Sodahead's survey did identify one group that liked Facebook's changes more than most: 55 percent of IT workers said they liked Facebook's redesign, although Sodahead doesn't give a total number of how many IT workers responded to its survey. The same is true for those identified as making over $100K yearly, of which 36 percent said they liked Facebook's new changes, as well as those who indicated they were college students – 30 percent reported satisfaction with Facebook's redesign.

The results of Sodahead's survey might be short-lived, however: The new Facebook timeline debuts September 29, and it's a comprehensive transformation of one's standard profile page into an interactive archive of Facebook activity. If you thought Facebook's tiny news feed changes were a big deal, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Hundreds of schoolgirls and their mothers turned out to help the bride-to-be along the streets of her village. The Gianni Molaro designed cream dress, which is made from 6,000 metres of silk chord, is expected to be confirmed as the world’s longest by the Guinness book of Records.

NASA's dead satellite falls, starting over Pacific, NASA's dead 6-ton satellite plunged to Earth early Saturday, but more than eight hours later, U.S. space officials didn't know just where it hit. They thought the fiery fall was largely over water and the debris probably hurt no one.


The bus-sized satellite first penetrated Earth's atmosphere somewhere over the Pacific Ocean, according to NASA and the U.S. Air Force's Joint Space Operations Center. But that doesn't necessarily mean it all fell into the sea.

NASA's earlier calculations had predicted that the 20-year-old former climate research satellite would fall over a 500-mile swath and could include land.

Because the plummet began over the ocean and given the lack of any reports of people being hit, that "gives us a good feeling that no one was hurt," but officials didn't know for certain, NASA spokesman Steve Cole told The Associated Press.

The two government agencies said the 35-foot satellite fell sometime between 11:23 p.m. EDT Friday and 1:09 a.m. EDT Saturday, but with no precise time or location.

There was rampant speculation on the Internet and Twitter, much of it focusing on unconfirmed reports and even video of debris over Alberta, Canada.

Cole said that was possible because the last track for the satellite included Canada, starting north of Seattle and then in a large arc north then south. From there, the track continued through the Atlantic south toward Africa, but it was unlikely the satellite got that far if it started falling over the Pacific.

Cole said NASA was hoping for more details from the Air Force, which was responsible for tracking debris.
But given where the satellite may have fallen, officials may never quite know precisely.

"Most space debris is in the ocean. It'll be hard to confirm," Cole said.

Some 26 pieces of the satellite representing 1,200 pounds of heavy metal had been expected to rain down somewhere. The biggest surviving chunk should be no more than 300 pounds.

The Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite is the biggest NASA spacecraft to crash back to Earth, uncontrolled, since the post-Apollo 75-ton Skylab space station and the more than 10-ton Pegasus 2 satellite, both in 1979.

Russia's 135-ton Mir space station slammed through the atmosphere in 2001, but it was a controlled dive into the Pacific.

Before UARS fell, no one had ever been hit by falling space junk and NASA expected that not to change.

NASA put the chances that somebody somewhere on Earth would get hurt at 1-in-3,200. But any one person's odds of being struck were estimated at 1-in-22 trillion, given there are 7 billion people on the planet.
The satellite ran out of fuel and died in 2005.

Kim Delaney Booted Off Stage at Liberty Medal Award Ceremony, What’s wrong with Kim Delaney? The star of Lifetime’s “Army Wives” was kicked off stage at Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center Thursday night after delivering an inappropriate and at times incomprehensible speech at the Liberty Medal Award presentation to former defense secretary Robert Gates.


Delaney stumbled to the podium and twisted her hands as she talked about having “served in active military duty family for five years.” “I’ve seen soldiers come home with painful life altering injuries borne of their time and service,” she said, slurring at times. “I’ve attended numerous military funerals, including that of my best friend’s son.”

Except, she hasn’t.

“It’s all make believe. I do that as a job. It’s make believe,” she said nearly two minutes into her speech. “I have the luxury to do all of this on a television show.”

Video from ABC affiliate WPVI shows the crowd growing uncomfortable as Delaney rambles on. She was escorted off stage before finishing her remarks.

CBS’ Philadelphia affiliate reported that Delaney was supposed to read her speech off a teleprompter, but technical difficulties forced her to wing it. Representatives for the National Constitution Center did not immediately respond to ABCNews.com’s requests for comment.

Delaney, 49, has had issues with substance abuse — in 2002, she was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving after she refused to take a breathalyzer test.
